Bowling is one of the world’s most under-appreciated sports. It’s absorbing; it’s complex; it’s great fun; and in North Yorkshire, there is no better place to play it than Helmsley.

For over 80 years, this superbly manicured green - with its views over the ancient castle - has been home to Helmsley Bowling Club. 

Every year, from April and September, the place comes alive to the sound of hard-fought competition between a membership which ranges in age from their 40’s to the 80’s. And all you need to join them is……a pair of flat shoes!

“I couldn’t believe how brilliant the game was,” says one of the 2022 intake. “Why didn’t I find it years ago?”

If you’re a complete beginner, Helmsley Bowling Club is the perfect place for you. We have qualified coaches, and we’ve a happy, vibrant social side too. If you’re a seasoned competitor, we’re also the ideal home for you. We field teams in three leagues; run thriving club knockouts AND play host to visiting teams up to County level.
