Alan Russell
Helmsley Bowling Club
It is with huge sadness that the club learnt last week of the passing of Alan Russell. The Russell family have long been active and leading members of our club. Alan himself had represented the club on countless occassions, and had won over 30 club trophies, notably the Men's Championship which he won fourteen times between 1992 and 2021.
More importantly, Alan was a much loved and respected figure around the green. A quiet man with a ready smile, he was always encouraging to newer and lesser players than himself. He loved the club and played a huge part in making the green the beautiful place that it is to play on. He will be missed by us all, and our thoughts are with Ann and the family.
